Dharamshala Tours is a small, locally run trekking and travel outfit based in McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. This page explains, in plain English, what we do and do not know about you when you use this website or get in touch.
The short version: this site has no login, no forms, no shopping cart and no payment page. We cannot collect anything from you here except anonymous traffic statistics. Everything else you share, you share deliberately — by calling us, messaging us on WhatsApp, or sending an email.
What we collect
When you contact us
If you call, message or email us we hold whatever you send: your name, your phone number or email address, your travel dates, group size, and anything you tell us about fitness levels, dietary needs or medical conditions relevant to a trek. We keep it because we need it to plan and run your trip.
Medical or dietary details you share are only ever seen by the people organising and leading your trip.
When you browse this site
We use two analytics tools to understand which pages people find useful:
- Google Analytics 4. Records page views, approximate location (usually city or region level, derived from your IP address), device type and referring site. It also records a
call_clickevent when someone taps a phone number, which tells us which page and which button produced the call — not who called, and not the number you called from. - Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. Provided by our host. Records page views and loading-performance measurements without cookies.
Neither tool tells us who you are. We do not attempt to link browsing data to any individual, and we never combine it with the details you send us by phone or WhatsApp.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. It uses one item of browser session storage to remember that you have already seen the opening splash animation, so it does not replay on every page. That value is cleared when you close the tab and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
Google Analytics may set its own cookies. If you would rather it did not, a browser-level tracker blocker or Google’s own opt-out add-on will stop it, and the site will work exactly as before.
Who else is involved
A handful of third parties necessarily see a request when you load a page:
- Vercel — hosts the site and serves every page.
- ImageKit — serves many of our photographs from its image CDN.
- Google — supplies the analytics described above and one web font.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — if you choose to message us there, your conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s own privacy terms as well as this one.
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and we do not run advertising or retargeting pixels on this site.
How long we keep things
Enquiries that do not turn into a booking are deleted once they are clearly cold. Booking records are kept while they are needed for the trip and afterwards where we are required to hold them for tax and accounting purposes. Analytics data follows the retention period set in Google Analytics, currently 14 months.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 — and, if you are contacting us from the UK or EU, under the GDPR — you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email dharamshalatours.in@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Children
This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18 except the details a parent or guardian gives us when booking a family trip.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Enquiry and booking details live in ordinary business messaging and email accounts protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if anything affecting your information goes wrong.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be summarised here rather than made quietly.
