The Minkiani (Mankiani) Pass at 4,250 m is the quieter twin of the Indrahar Pass — the old Gaddi shepherd line crossing the Dhauladhar from Kareri into Chamba. The trek climbs from Kareri village to Kareri Lake, then over moraine and meadow to the small sacred lake below the pass and the steep rock crossing to the saddle, with the Sickle Moon peak prominent to the north.
The Minkiani (Mankiani) Pass at 4,250 m is the quieter twin of the busy Indrahar Pass — the old shepherd and pilgrim line by which the Gaddis crossed the Dhauladhar from Kangra into Chamba. The trek climbs from Kareri village through pine and oak forest to Kareri Lake, then up moraine and meadow to the foot of the pass and the small sacred lake below it, before the steep rock crossing to the saddle. The reward is solitude and scale: prominent peaks like the Sickle Moon to the north and an almost empty trail the whole way. It is a moderate-to-difficult route for walkers with prior trekking comfort, run with local guides, porters, camping, permits and Dharamshala transfers arranged.
